DETAILED ITINERARY FOR 7-DAY MOROCCO BIRDING TOUR: MARRAKECH, ATLAS MOUNTAINS, AND ATLANTIC COAST

DAY  1 : ATLAS MONTAINS ASNI  OUKAIMEDEN  FROM  MARRAKECH

We offer a birdwatching tour in Morocco that starts at any meeting point in Marrakech, such as the airport or your hotel. Our journey begins with a drive towards the Atlas Mountains. Our first stop on this birding tour will be in Marrakech, where we can find a variety of bird species such as Spotless Starling, House Bunting, Dekla Lark, Magpie, Grey Shrike, Rock Sparrow, Little Owl, and some Doves. Continuing our journey, we will head towards the Atlas Mountains in Asni. Here, we will witness some spectacular birds such as Levaillant’s Green Woodpecker and Great Spotted Woodpecker.

Our next destination is Lac Oukaimeden, where we can spot Alpine Chough, Crimson-winged Finch, Black Wheatear, Mossier’s Redstart, Kestrel, and some ducks. Finally, we will end our day with dinner, accommodation, and breakfast in a Marrakech hotel. DAY 2 : OUARZAZATE, BOUMALNE DADES FROM ATLAS MONTAINS

We will drive to Tizi-n-tichka to look for birds such as kestrel, Bonelli’s eagle, and Tristram’s warbler. Next, we will head to the town of Amerzagane to see some amazing birds like Black wheatear and Maghreb wheatear. Our next stop will be at Mansour Eddahbi Barrage, where we can spot a variety of birds such as Ruddy shelduck, Black-winged stilts, Marbled ducks, Cormorants, Herons, Olivaceous warbler, and some waders. Finally, we will enjoy dinner and spend the night at a hotel in Boumalne Dades. The following morning, we will have breakfast before heading out for more birding adventures.

DAY 3 :  BOUMALNE DADES  BACK  TO OUARZAZATE

We will continue our birding tour to the famous Tagdilt track (located in Boumalne city) to spot some rare bird species such as the Eagle Owl, Cream-colored Courser, Trumpeter Finch, Hoopoe Lark, Thick-billed Lark, Sandgrouse, Desert Lark, and Black Wheatears. Next, we will visit the caves and Dades Gorges where nomadic families live. This is an excellent opportunity to observe the local birdlife. We will then head to Ouarzazate, with some stops along the way to spot Tristram’s Warbler and Kestrel. Finally, we will have dinner, accommodation, and breakfast in an Ouarzazate hotel.

DAY4 : SOUS VALLEY – AGADIR FROM OUARZAZATE

We will drive to the Souss Valley, where we are likely to spot various bird species, such as the Black-crowned Tchagra, House Bunting, various Doves, Spanish Sparrow, Desert Lark, and Maghribi Wheatear. Continuing on, we will arrive in Taroudant city, where we can observe Barn Swallows and Pallid Swifts. Finally, we will enjoy dinner and stay overnight in an Agadir hotel, followed by breakfast the next morning.

DAY  5 : CAP RHIR – TAMRI ESTUARY  FROM  AGADIR

Firstly, on our birding tour, we will drive to Agadir beach and Cap Ghir to see three species of gulls including Black-Backed Gulls of two races, Yellow-Legged Gulls, and Audouin’s Gulls. Secondly, we will continue to Tamri to watch Black Ibis and some ducks. Finally, we will have dinner and accommodation in an Agadir hotel.

DAY  6 : OUED MASSA – OUED SOUSS  FROM AGADIR

We will visit Oued Massa, one of the best places for bird watching, where we should be able to spot Black-crowned tchagra, cormorants, Mossier’s redstart, Marbled duck, some doves, and Brown-throated martin. Next, we will continue to Oued Souss where we will have an excellent birding experience and may be able to see flamingos, roosting gulls, and terns. Finally, we will have dinner, accommodation, and breakfast in an Agadir hotel.

DAY  7 : AGADIR BACK TO MARRAKECH

We will return to Marrakech with several stops along the way to see more bird species. At the end of the tour, we will have dinner and accommodation in a hotel in Marrakech, followed by breakfast the next morning.
