DETAILED ITINERARY FOR EXPLORING MOROCCO'S BIRDING WONDERS: 7-DAY PRIVATE GUIDED TOUR

DAY 1 : ATLAS MONTAINS ASNI  OUKAIMEDEN  FROM  MARRAKECH :

Our birding tour from Marrakech starts at your preferred meeting point, whether it be the Marrakech airport or your hotel. We will then journey towards the Atlas Mountains, where you will witness an array of bird species in their natural habitat. Our first stop will be in Marrakech, where we will observe some bird species such as Hoopoe, Spotless starling, House bunting, Dekla lark, Magpie, Desert lark, Desert wheatear, Grey shrike, Rock sparrow, Little owl, and some doves.

Next, we will continue our journey to Asni in the Atlas Mountains, where we will observe spectacular bird species such as Levaillant’s green woodpecker and Great spotted woodpecker. We will then proceed to Lac Oukaimeden, where we will observe Alpine chough, Alpine accentor, Crimson-winged finch, Black wheatear, Mossier’s redstart, Kestrel, and some ducks. After a full day of bird watching, we will end the day with a delicious dinner and comfortable accommodation at your Marrakech hotel. The next morning, we will enjoy a hearty breakfast before embarking on the next leg of our birding tour in Morocco.

DAY 2 : OUARZAZATE, BOUMALNE DADES FROM ATLAS MONTAINS :

On day two of our birding tour from Marrakech, we will embark on a scenic drive through Tizi-n-Tichka pass, where we have the chance to observe birds such as Kestrel, Bonelli’s eagle, and Tristram’s warbler. Our journey will then take us to Amerzagane town, where we will observe spectacular birds like Black wheatear and Maghreb wheatear.

We will then visit the Mansour Eddahbi Barrage, where we can spot a variety of bird species such as Ruddy shelduck, Black-winged stilts, Marbled ducks, Cormorants, Herons, Olivaceous warbler, and some waders.

After a full day of bird watching, we will end our day at Boumalne Dades hotel, where you will enjoy a delicious dinner and comfortable accommodation. The next morning, we will start early with a hearty breakfast before embarking on the next leg of our birding adventure in Morocco.

DAY 3 : TAGDILT TRACK AROUND BOUMALNE DADES :

Continuing our birding tour from Marrakech, we will head towards one of the best birdwatching places in Morocco – the Tagdilt track in Boumalne city. Here, we will have the opportunity to spot rare bird species such as the Eagle owl, Cream-coloured courser, Trumpter finch, Hoopoe lark, Thick-billed lark, Desert lark, and Black wheatears.

As the day winds down, we will return to Boumalne Dades hotel for a comfortable night’s rest, a delicious dinner, and a hearty breakfast the next morning. On day four, we will set out early to explore the stunning landscapes and birdlife of the Dades Gorges. Here, we will witness the breathtaking scenery of the gorge while searching for unique bird species such as Desert warbler, Rock bunting, Black wheatear, Blue rock thrush, and more.

After a full day of birdwatching, we will retire to our hotel in the heart of the Dades Gorges, where we will enjoy a delicious dinner and comfortable accommodation. The next morning, we will head towards Merzouga, where we will embark on a thrilling desert adventure while searching for elusive bird species such as Pharaoh eagle owl, Desert sparrow, and more.

DAY 4 : TODRA  GORGE – MERZOUGA  FROM  BOUMALNE  DADES :

We will make a stop at Todra Gorge to observe a variety of bird species including Rock doves, Black wheatear, scrub warbler, Crag martin, Sparrow, Blue rock-thrush, and Bonelli’s eagle.

Continuing on to Merzouga, we will have the opportunity to spot Trumpter finch, Thick-billed lark, and Desert wheatear in their natural habitat. Finally, we will enjoy a delicious dinner and spend the night at a comfortable hotel in Merzouga, followed by breakfast the next morning to fuel up for another day of exciting birdwatching.

DAY  5 : ERG CHEBBI DUNES – RISSANI FROM MERZOUGA :

We will embark on a thrilling drive through the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi to spot an array of little birds and angry birds such as Brown-necked raven, Hoopoe lark, Rock sparrow, Desert sparrow, Desert warbler, spotted sandgrouse, Lanner falcon, Olivaceous warbler, Blue-cheeked bee-eater, and Egyptian nightjar, which are both possible sightings. Our journey continues to the seasonal lake of Merzouga, where we can observe a variety of ducks and waders.

Finally, we will spend an unforgettable night in a luxury camp in the heart of the desert. Here, we will enjoy a delicious dinner under the stars, followed by a comfortable overnight stay in our accommodations, and a delightful breakfast in the morning.

DAY 6 : TAZZARINE – DARAA  VALLEY – ANTI ATLAS MOUNTAINS – OUARZAZATE  FROM  MERZOUGA :

We will continue our birdwatching tour to Tazzarine, where we will explore the cliffs and hills of the area. Along the way, we will make stops to watch the White-crowned wheatear and Southern grey shrike. Our next destination will be the Barrage Mansour eddahbi, where we will have the chance to see Ruddy shelducks, Marbled ducks, Olivacoaus warbler, Black winged stilts, Cormorants, Dekla lark, and some waders.

After a long day of birdwatching, we will unwind and relax in our Ouarzazate hotel, where we will enjoy a delicious dinner and rest for the night. The following morning, we will have breakfast and get ready for the next leg of our journey.

DAY  7 : OUARZAZETE BACK  TO MARRAKECH :

Today is the last day of our birdwatching tour. We will make our way back to Marrakech, passing through the famous Tizi n Tichka, which stands at 2260 meters high. We will make several stops at various locations along the way to observe birds and take in the breathtaking views of the Atlas Mountains.
